Introducing Unlock Your Mind

Introducing Unlock Your Mind: Your Pathway to Better Healing

Starting therapy should feel like a step forward, not a shot in the dark. Current systems that are developed to help people find mental health practitioners are jargon heavy directories with tiered marketing systems for therapist resumes. Unless you understand the jargon, it's hard to know what each therapist specializes in aside from the obvious; grief, anxiety, trauma etc.

Once you've navigated the jargon the next thing to do is choose someone you can trust to share the most vulnerable parts of yourself. With current directory models, this can feel like Russian roulette. Especially if you are already overwhelmed, have difficulty trusting new people with your story or have limited funds and rely solely on your mental health plan sessions. Not to mention, single or multiple poor experiences can deter people from trying again and seeking the professional help that can get them to better or full health.

With Unlock Your Mind, you can take a carefully curated questionnaire that suggests 3-5 practitioners who truly align with your communication style, comfort levels, and support needs. No jargon, no bias, just a clear path to the right fit. Start your journey with confidence and find the support that feels just right for you.

My story

My Story: Finding the Right Fit

Let's get real. I've always been pretty self-aware. Point out a flaw, and trust me, I've already spiralled, "fixed" it, unfixed it, and spiralled again. Despite this awareness, sometimes I need professional guidance to truly understand my triggers and work on meaningful change. I knew from a young age that finding the right therapist was key. But, even with recommendations from my GP or practitioner receptionists, the journey wasn't straightforward.

Session one felt like a "getting to know you" chat. No worries, I expected that.

Session two, it's still too early to tell….right?

Session three, No breakthroughs yet, I'm being impatient. This could take years….right?

Let me be clear: these practitioners weren't bad; they just weren't right for me. One therapist spent most sessions comparing my experiences to other clients, trying to assure me I wasn't alone. Valuable, but not what I needed or had asked for. Another had me watching parenting videos from the early 90s. Again, not quite the help I was seeking.

I realized I needed something different and it wasn't until years later I had a conversation with someone who said, "sounds like you want psychotherapy". All these years of describing what I wanted but I couldn't articulate the jargon, and directories couldn't figure it out for me. That's just one reason why I'm building Unlock Your Mind. You don't need a degree to understand the jargon. Our matches are genuine, based on your answers, not marketing tiers. We want you to feel confident enough to take that step toward your best self and that fear of therapy, that one bad experience that haunted your idea of therapy forever, you can leave it by the door. This is built for YOU.

Unlock Your Mind is a matching service — not a therapy provider or crisis service. If you need urgent help, please contact your local emergency services.
